Lily's (Hopefully) Worst Thanksgiving Ever

Although Lily's first Thanksgiving was nothing special, she's been doing better through the weekend. Last weekend Lily was throwing up a bunch and this week she stopped doing that and instead got a cold. Her cold got worse through the week and so on Wednesday we took her to the doctor and found out she has an ear infection! So she's on meds for that and lo and behold... can it get any worse? The answer is yes. Of course. It can ALWAYS get worse (I have learned this in many cases but especially since becoming a mom). Lily had a tooth come through and has another one about to pop out! Poor thing! Thank goodness her memory won't allow this to scar her for life.... Anyway Thanksgiving wasn't anything too special for Ben and me either. We just ate Pizza Hut and put up a few Christmas decorations. However, there is an upside to this little story. Ben's mum and dad came up Friday night and spent some time with us. It was fun having them here. Ben's brother Joe was really sweet and had his parents bring up some of the food that he had prepared on Thanksgiving so we could celebrate it on Saturday instead of Thursday. The food was sooo good! It was really touching to be able to still have a normal Thanksgiving even though we have no family close by or the ability to travel. But here are some pictures of the weekend!

Lily took a few naps with Grandpa. It was so cute!

They're good buds!

We bought a little Christmas village and had little lights inside the houses and Lily was soooo fascinated in them.

Does it get any cuter than bath pictures?! My baby is the cutest!

For Lily's Thanksgiving "feast" we gave her carrots. This is the first thing she's tried besides rice cereal. The picture tells all about how she ate it. It wasn't nearly as bad as the rice cereal though. Although I gave her more today and she just ate it down without any problem!

Story of our lives.

Lily ADORES Ben.

Grandpa bonding time.

Our sweet angel. Although Thanksgiving wasn't the best day, we had an amazing weekend and we have a lot to be grateful for.
Just a fun side story. As I was writing this post and waiting for the pictures to upload Ben was changing Lily on the changing table behind me and realized we haven't taken ANY pictures of her naked. So while she was naked I grabbed the camera and had Ben pose her around (it's always hard to get that perfect picture). Well nature called and Lily started peeing and those myths about how boys can shoot and girls can't is a lie! Ben was holding her about a foot in front of him and she got his sunday shirt soaked! I love that little girl! She makes me laugh all day long!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Well of course I have to post pictures... I always feel weird when I don't. Lily just gets cuter everyday! We're so lucky to have her in our family!

She now enjoys cuddling with "Cubby."

She also enjoys cuddling with daddy. She really enjoys playtime with Ben and girl talk with me. She'll just babble and babble and babble forever.

Well not much is going on here.... we're just grateful to have the week off for Thanksgiving. We're also fortunate because Ben's parents will be with us for the weekend. We have so much to be thankful for this time of year. We have a wonderful daughter who I can say is the cutest baby in the entire world (I am biased as all parents should be...). We have wonderful families. Ben and I constantly talk about how we got so lucky with in-laws. We've got an apartment that we both love and we also have wonderful friends. We also have a lot of stupid things to be grateful for like when my scale says "low" when I step on it I feel like I'm losing weight when I'm not. The battery's just low and it's reminding me to get a new one. I hope that we can all take some time to realize how many blessings we have even when we're at rock bottom. Have a happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Lock your doors!

So here's just an example as to why I should remind everyone to lock their doors: last night I was home with just Lily (Ben was at work) and my friend Lauren was on her way to bring me dinner since I haven't been doing well. Well it turned out that someone hit her car on her way over so she wasn't able to come over after all and I wish she had because about 10 minutes after that happened someone tried breaking into our apartment while I was STILL home!

I heard someone coming up the stairs (I assumed it was my neighbors) but he started twisting MY doorknob and after he realized that it was locked (as I always keep it... better to be paranoid than dead...) he started picking the lock! My outside light was on, and even the tv in that room was on. So I just assumed Ben was having a hard time getting in but I wasn't positive so I didn't open the door (because he had just left for work an hour or two earlier). After about 30 seconds of picking at the lock the guy gave up and ran down the stairs really quick and I tried to look out my window but I couldn't see him at that angle. I just reported it to the police in case it had been happening a lot in our area.

It's funny because while this was happening I was thinking, "OK if he breaks in how am I going to defend myself...." Well there are the obvious answers and then I realized I have quite a collection of dirty diapers that would be great for throwing.... mwahahahaha..... he literally wouldn't know what hit him....

Anyway, the result for my ultra-sound showed nothing... BOO. That was my worst fear. The sooner they find something the sooner this pain goes away! My doctor's seeing me again today to try some different tests. If he doesn't find anything the next step is a CT scan and I think if it gets to that point I'll just deal with the pain... I've had a baby without drugs, right? I can handle this.

UPDATE: I just saw my doctor again and had an x-ray. He quickly found my problem and it's too embarassing to share on a blog so let's just say that I'll be better in the next few days...

All Lily!

Her curls are so long I'm starting to have a hard time controlling them.

I promise she actually likes her rice cereal now!

She always goes cross-eyed when she pulls something close to her face!

We were at our friends' apartment and they had just gone to wendy's and decided to let Lily try a french fry. We stuck it in her mouth and at first she just gave us that "this is DISGUSTING" face (probably because she's never had salt before). But once the salt was gone she was pretty much inhaling it. :) We're bad parents....

Halloween

I hope everyone had a happy Halloween! Ben and I had a GREAT day! We started off the day with a shopping trip in Idaho Falls. We only go there about once a month and so we try to take advantage of those trips. We first went to Kohl's because we had some "Kohls Cash" that they gave us from another shopping trip. We ended up getting a maternity shirt, skirt, dress, and two dress shirts for Ben for $2.50. I love good deals. (Mom, I'm already turning into you by sharing with everyone how much money I've saved). :)

I promise this is not a permenant makeover but for Halloween I was an emo girl. We didn't really get any good pictures of me or Lily last night. This is the best one. This picture does me NO JUSTICE! It doesn't show off my heavy eyeliner, leggings, or hot pink hair! Oh well. Lily was as cute as usual in her mermaid costume. She liked sucking on her bikini so we had to take her out of the outfit sooner than expected. The sequins were stuck together with glitter glue.

We also had Pendie and Robyn over for dinner. Robyn dressed up little Pendie as a catipillar! What a cutie! He's the cutest little bug I've ever seen (although Becca was a very cute lady bug in kindergarten.... :) ). Anyway Robyn made this costume herself and I think it was a total success!

Then we went over to our friend Daniel's house for a party. He dressed up as a sumo wrestler and Ben was a Samoan. Of course Ben had pillows inside his lava lava and shirt. I think my favorite part about Daniel's costume was that his wife Lauren made him a "bun" by putting some nylons on his head. All I could think was "du rag." I have no idea how to spell that. I googled it and got MANY results. Apparently no one knows how to spell it. But anyway, our Halloween was great fun! And the best part? We actually got trick-or-treaters last night!! I was so excited! Everytime the doorbell rang I was elated!
