Lovely Life

It actually got warm here! Not just warmER, but actually warm! Then I realized that Ben and I had bought Lily some clearance items for this year's wardrobe. Little did I realize she would be so huge and she'd be wearing her summer clothes in March. Sigh. At least she looks cute!

I tuck her in maybe 5 or 6 times every night. She just has too much fun in her crib crawling around and playing with her toys. I have to wait until she goes unconscious every night to actually get her blankets on her.

Lily is now a yogurt lover! We let her try it this week and now she won't leave us alone if we're eating any. This is Lily finishing off Ben's yogurt.


And sometimes she flips it upside down.......

Which means she gets covered in drooled down yogurt..... Oh the joys of motherhood.



Well I still haven't received any test results. So life goes on. We still haven't come up with any boy names! One of these days Ben and I will HAVE to agree on something....... And at the moment I am in quite a bit of pain...... I'm not sure if my chiropractor is making this all worse or not. Because if he is I would be more than happy to tell my OB/GYN about it and be referred to a masseuse. :)

Happy Birthday Lizzie!

So today is my big sister's birthday. I won't say how old she is, only that it comes between 25 and 27. (I would NEVER announce your age on my blog Lizzie..... NEEEEVVVVEEERRRR). FYI this is the cake I "made" (aka just uploaded a pic of) for you!!!! If you want it you have to come to Rexburg to get it, otherwise I can't make any promises that you'll get any. I may be loving but I am also pregnant. Have a wonderful day that is full of fattening food!

It's a........

BOY!!!!! Ben and I are very excited to say that we're going to have a son! It's strange because I've always been freaked out to have a boy (since I know nothing about them..... well except for Ben..... but I don't think Ben's NORMAL.......) but I am really really really excited to have a boy! Yes it would have been more convenient to have a girl because they could have used all the same clothes since they were both born in the summer, but oh well. This just means I have to do more baby shopping!!! Oh poor me...... The good news is that the baby is 100% healthy. On the other hand I have 3 specialists I have to be seeing right now. Goodness gracious. That's going to get hectic.


I have had some questions about my weird pregnancy so let me just put it on the blog so I don't have to answer 5 billion emails. In December, when I was 6ish weeks along, the baby's bloodstream got into mine. We have different blood types and so my body created a bunch of antibodies to defend itself. Because of this super-rare incident a few doctors have been putting their heads together to figure out whether I'll be able to have children again. I'll be able to get pregnant, I just won't be able to carry a baby to full-term because the antibodies I created in this pregnancy will attack any future fetus. There's a possibility that because doctors are catching this pretty early on that I'll be fine and have 50 more kids. But each pregnancy will be riskier than the last unless something is done in this pregnancy. We will hopefully be getting some results back in the next little while. So that's the 411 on pregnancy #2.


Well life continues to be wonderful. I don't think that Ben and I have ever been so happy. We realize how blessed we are (even if we're only able to have two kids). We're really thankful for all the love and support we've been given. It would have been a lot harder to get through this little drama without it.

what can I say? we're just the coolest people alive and we know you are jealous of all of our amazingness.

So life is pretty amazing. Lily is now starting to say "mama" although she doesn't get it that I'M mama. She's not even close to saying "dada" yet and I think Ben assumes that I have taught her this on purpose but I really haven't. You know how a lot of couples call each other mommy and daddy so the kids don't call their parents by their first names? Well it dawned on me this week that I NEVER call Ben Ben, and he never calls me Heather. We seriously just call each other Husband and Wife. I'm starting to wonder if that's what Lily's going to call us....... hmmmmm.......

So just about every weekend Ben and I go out and do things with friends. We usually just end up talking and playing games. Well last night we decided to play a game that was very similar to the Newlywed Game except you're trying to match up things like Disney characters or cities in France instead of things about each other. So let's just say Ben and I are EXTREMELY competitive in games and we pretty much had everyone running for their money. I think a lot of people got scared when they saw Ben and me screaming through the whole thing. We can't even play many games at home when we're by ourselves because we're too competitive and I think it hurts our marriage. Not really but we try not to play on opposite teams just in case.....

Well Wednesday is the big day that we find out the sex of the baby! We're soooo excited and we're also relieved that that is the day when I will have lots of tests done to see if I need to be transferred to a doctor in Utah because of my problems. After the many months of waiting it will be such a relief to know whether or not this is serious. PS- thanks to everyone who fasted for us! We really appreciate it and we're not letting this worry us no matter what the outcome is.

Crash Landing

I don't want to make it seem as if I hate motherhood, I actually LOVE it. It's just that now things are much more complicated with a little 20 lb. moving-machine around. So what is my latest story? Well last night I was cleaning the kitchen and Ben was job hunting on his laptop in the living room. Lily always plays in the living room and so I assumed Ben was keeping an eye on her. *Note to self: always communicate with spouse to make sure we're both on the same page regarding that matter. So what made me realize something wasn't right? Quite simple, really: a loud crash and Lily's "I'm hurt" cry. I ran out from the kitchen to realize she had tried standing up by pulling on the stool legs. The stool then fell on her and the heaviest part landed on her forehead. So as her face is turning blue I'm freaking out while Ben's checking her pupils, etc. And Lily, of course, is crying the whole time. So how do I calm her down? By singing Old McDonald Had a Farm, of course! For those of you who don't know, this is Lily's FAVORITE song (she particularly loves the bee and turkey verses). Then it was as if nothing had happened to her, although her face was still getting bigger. So we put some ice on her forehead while I read Dr. Seuss to her (she now adores rhyming words) and of course that got her to laugh. Sigh. These little incidents are rare but are probably the most blogworthy moments of my day.


One of the better things in life is that Lily is improving her kissing. Whenever I put her down for a nap or for bed I tuck her in, kiss her on the forehead, say goodnight, walk to the door and blow her a kiss before I leave. Well to my surprise she is now starting to blow kisses back. It makes me never want to leave her room even though I need her naptime as much as she does! I have also learned that if Lily's crawling toward something she shouldn't, I just need to blow her kisses and she'll come to me to get some loves. It's moments like these that make me feel a little better and make all the hard times worth it. I just wish she didn't have a red face right now so I wouldn't be scared to take her out in public and be labeled as an abusive mom.....

PS this picture doesn't really show her redness. She has a red mark next to her right eye and this morning her forehead is looking MUCH better.

I feel like my life has turned into complete chaos. In just a matter of a week and a half Lily has started crawling, started her journey of feeding herself, forgot that a crib is meant for sleeping and is now a cage for climbing, and she pooped in the bathtub for the first time yesterday which meant lots of disinfecting of toys, the tub, and the bathseat. I only have one baby. How am I supposed to have two?!?!?!?! I have to admit that when everyone said to me that being a parent is hard I believed them but in the back of my brain I was rolling my eyes since Lily has always been an extremely easy baby to take care of. But everyday has a small new adventure that I have to deal with. Today Lily must have been thinking, "oh she's FINALLY going to the bathroom! I'll have to do this quick so she doesn't catch me!" I heard some strange noises while I was in the bathroom so I ran out to find that Lily had tipped over the trash can and was unloading it while putting gooey things like Bush's Baked Beans in her mouth. Isn't there some kind of white flag you're allowed to wave when you're a mom?
