Zoo Trip

Every year we take turns having a membership somewhere.  That way we're not going to the same place every year and it keeps things new and exciting.  This year's membership is the zoo and aquariums.  We took Grandmum and Pop Pop and they treated us to feeding the giraffes!  It was seriously the best part of the day.  So fun.  I didn't want to leave.

Thad was the only one who just couldn't do it.  He would try and then as soon as the giraffe's tongue got close enough he would drop it and back away.  It was cute to see my fearless child suddenly become afraid.

This trip to the zoo -- for lack of a better word -- was very "educational."  We saw animals doing things we don't usually see them do at zoos.  At one point we saw this elephant start to pee and it was -- for lack of a better word -- "educational."  Mum and I were just staring, jaws dropped, as he used his "manly parts" as a 5th appendage and scratched it's belly and did all kinds of things.  Then one of the kids asked me, "Do you think that elephant has a baby in its tummy?"  The people next to us just burst out laughing.  I'm fairly certain there isn't a baby in this one's tummy.

It was also really cool to see how elephants drink.

The kiddos were so hot and exhausted.

Thad really struggled at different parts of the day.  When you're in the heat during naptime, it's only natural to want to go to sleep.  While we were watching bears, Ben rubbed Thaddeo's face until we were sure he was asleep.  But he must have been faking it because as soon as we said "playground" he hopped right out of the stroller and went running.
